This will be my 1st post about food!
Nancy asked at the meeting last night about Chips. Most of the labels that you read on the back of a chip bag have long unpronounceable words on them. I thought I would share some of the brands I have found that we feel do not taste like cardboard and yet have few ingredients that I am familiar with.
Nancy~ you may not have a food processor but if you do you can make an awesome salsa with
1 onion, 1 cucumber, jalapeño, a of cloves of garlic and a few large tomatoes or a few handfuls of small tomatoes.
Salt & Pepper.
*** if you replace the cucumber with some pineapple you will have the type of salsa fresco they serve at Hula Hut! It's not an exact recipe b/c you can play with it and tweak it to match up with your liking. You will want a food processor b/c you need the pulse/chop feature so it has good texture.
Please remember church family that some of my "suggestions" may have things that the die hard people will want to stay away from. For example the hummus shown in the picture has a little potassium sorbate to help preserve. For my family, we are striving for conscious awareness and better choices. It's been a baby step process for us. Most of the other hummus I use to buy had the all big unpronounceable words on the label. The reason I pictured it is b/c "Pita Pal" is a local TX product that uses organic ingredients. HEB carries another AMAZING hummus called "Grandma's Hummus" and Little Counrty Dinner has the BEST hummus Ever (homemade).
P.S. the Guacamole pictured came from Randall's but "Holy Guacamole" is also a good store-bought option.
Of coarse ALL is better if you make yourself BUT for those who are look for fast/easy. This is my take on Chips and Dip!
Good stuff girlie! I also buy the gluten free cheese queso from Whole Foods! It's so good! I cannot eat Velvetta and it's hard to figure out how to get the cheese creamy.. I'm working on it.. teehee
